Northern Vietnam Warned of Heavy Rain, Thunderstorms, Hail Amid Flood Risks

In northern Vietnam, particularly in the capital Hanoi, heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms is forecast from this morning to noon on July 24th, with strict warnings issued for tornadoes, lightning strikes, hail, and sudden strong gusts of wind. Meteorological authorities have cautioned that these extreme weather events could threaten public safety. Furthermore, from July 24th to 25th, a high probability of floods is predicted due to rising water levels in rivers across northern Vietnam. River levels are expected to increase by 2 to 5 meters, significantly escalating the risks of flash floods and landslides in mountainous regions, as well as inundation in low-lying areas along the rivers. The government is prioritizing the swift formulation and implementation of evacuation plans and establishing support systems for post-disaster recovery to minimize damage from these natural calamities.
