Cambodia's Ministry of Rural Development Reviews July Progress, Plans for August
Cambodia's Ministry of Rural Development held a meeting to review July's work progress and August's plans. Progress rates for five priority programs were reported, with July achieving 10.64% and 61.89% from the start of the year. The minister praised staff efforts and instructed on future efficient work execution.
On July 27, 2026, the Ministry of Rural Development of Cambodia held a meeting at its headquarters to review July's work progress and outline plans for August. The meeting was chaired by Minister H.E. Chhay Rithisen and attended by Secretaries of State, Undersecretaries of State, heads of all departments under the ministry, advisors, and representatives from the Rural Development Departments of all 25 provinces and cities, participating both in person and via Zoom. Mr. Touch Siphat, Acting Director General of Administration and Finance, reported on the implementation of the ministry's five priority programs during July. These programs include resilient rural infrastructure and transportation development, improving access to clean water and rural sanitation, promoting rural community development and model villages, fostering rural economic diversification, and institutional management and general support services. The progress achieved in July was 10.64%, bringing the cumulative progress from the start of the year to 61.89% over seven months. Mr. Peng Sambour, Director of the Department of Planning and Public Relations, presented a comparison of the work progress achieved in July and over the first seven months of 2026, against the progress made in July and the first seven months of 2025, as well as against the planned targets for the current year. The meeting thoroughly reviewed and discussed these reports, providing significant input to make the work progress report comprehensive and to ensure the outlined work directions can be implemented successfully and efficiently. Minister H.E. Chhay Rithisen highly praised and commended the dedication and hard work of the leadership and officials at all levels for their active engagement, which has led to remarkable achievements in the first seven months of 2026. He noted that these accomplishments significantly contribute to the effective implementation of the first phase of the Cambodian government's "Pentagonal Strategy." The minister provided key recommendations for all five priority programs, covering both technical and administrative aspects. He specifically urged continued execution of roles and responsibilities with a spirit of solidarity and internal unity to enhance work efficiency and generate further achievements in the rural development sector, in line with the ministry's annual plan.
