Cambodia's Veteran and Retiree Association Strengthens Organization, Promotes Door-to-Door Visits in Provinces

The Cambodian Veteran and Retiree Association (hereinafter referred to as the Association) held a training session on administrative work and the burial assistance fund in Udar Meanchey province. This training was conducted as part of the Association's efforts to expand its scope of activities following the integration of veterans and retirees into a single membership, and to readjust the Association's work within ministries, institutions, and provincial departments. Speaking at the opening of the training session, Mr. Ouk Sok, Deputy Secretary-General of the Association, stated that after the grand congress merged retirees into the Association, the secretariat's work at each level has been readjusted, and the Association's scope of work has expanded significantly. Therefore, the Association's leadership has assigned specialized officials from the central Association to conduct presentations and training on the Association's work, with a new organizational structure. Specifically, the training focused on strengthening administrative work related to member registration and the burial assistance fund, so that leaders and secretariat teams of the Association at all levels in the province can understand clearly and serve the veterans and retirees even better. He emphasized the importance of managing the statistics and lists of all 4,989 veterans and retirees in Udar Meanchey province and conducting direct home visits to members, both veterans and retirees, to foster closeness, facilitate management, understand their well-being, and implement tasks for veterans more quickly and effectively. All committees of the provincial, municipal, district, and commune/sangkat branches of the Association must collect data on both veteran and retiree members to create profile books for veterans and retirees. One copy will be kept at the commune/sangkat level, one at the municipal/district level, one at the provincial level, and one at the standing committee of the central Association, to facilitate communication with members and clearly understand their needs. Mr. Ouk Sok added that to serve the Association and show high regard for veterans and retirees, all working teams of the Udar Meanchey provincial committee must diligently study and understand the presentations on administrative work and the burial assistance fund from experienced instructors.
