Duong Phuc Loi, Director of the Dai Dung Shipyard factory, stated that the most challenging aspect was fabricating the three-dimensional curves that form the water coconut leaf shape, requiring highly precise adjustments for each component before assembly. The factory utilizes laser CNC steel cutting systems and automatic welding machines to minimize deformation during fabrication. In confined or inaccessible areas, workers must enter tight spaces to perform hidden welding, adhering to strict safety protocols. Mr. Loi mentioned that to meet the deadline for the 3,400-ton steel arch fabrication, the factory at times mobilized about 500 engineers and workers for continuous shifts lasting over two months. Once assembled, the massive 3,400-ton structure will be transported by specialized vehicles onto a 14,000-ton barge and moved to the central Ho Chi Minh City area for installation in late August.
