Mondulkiri Public Works Accelerates National Road 76 Repairs, Some Sections Over 96% Complete

The Department of Public Works and Transport of Mondulkiri Province is accelerating maintenance and repair work on damaged sections of National Road 76. One section is already over 96% complete and nearing finalization, aiming to facilitate travel and goods transport. This road is vital for the economy, agriculture, tourism, and logistics in the northeastern region. Mr. Chhun Dimalong, Chief of Office at the Department of Public Works and Transport of Mondulkiri Province, told "Kampuchea Thmey" on September 10, 2026, that the department is currently accelerating repair work on two sections of National Road 76. The first section, located in Keo Seima District, has a total length of 4,762 meters and a width of 7 meters. Repair and DBST (Double Bitumen Surface Treatment) paving work on this section has reached approximately 62.59% completion. The second section, spanning 5,200 meters from Ou Reang District towards Sen Monorom City, has achieved 96.31% completion for its annual maintenance and DBST paving work. Mr. Dimalong stated that the repair work on these road sections began on February 25, 2026. Despite facing challenges such as rising fuel prices and adverse weather conditions during the rainy season, the technical team continues to expedite the work to meet the plan within 2026. Mr. Chhun Dimalong emphasized that National Road 76 has a total length of approximately 296 kilometers, connecting from National Road 7 in Snoul District, Kratie Province, through Mondulkiri Province, and continuing to Ratanakiri Province. This road is crucial for the economic, agricultural, tourism, and goods transportation sectors in the northeastern region. National Road 76 sees an average of over 10,000 vehicles per day, predominantly tourist cars and trucks. Concurrently, the Department of Public Works and Transport has appealed to all road users to exercise caution and adhere to traffic signs in the construction areas to prevent accidents and ensure the smooth progress of the work.
