Teguh, a resident of Medan Johor, recounted his struggle to find subsidized fuel. He mentioned visiting four SPBUs, all of which were empty. He finally managed to get Pertalite at SPBU Ngumbang Surbakti with his tank nearly dry. "I started queuing at 6 PM, and by 10 PM, I was still in line. I had to endure it because I have to work tomorrow morning," Teguh complained. Responding to this critical situation, North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution stated that the congestion at SPBUs is triggered by internal distribution issues, specifically the mass dismissal of fuel truck drivers. Bobby emphasized that internal company matters should not compromise the livelihoods of many. As an emergency measure, the Regional Government immediately coordinated with the TNI (Indonesian National Armed Forces) and Polri (Indonesian National Police) to deploy personnel as temporary drivers. "TNI/Polri are checking security arrangements to temporarily replace drivers whose recruitment is not yet complete today. We request personnel to be ready for control starting tonight. The government is ready to cover temporarily," Bobby asserted. Addressing the operational constraints at the Fuel Terminal Medan, Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sumbagut assured that fuel stocks are actually in a safe condition, but the distribution pattern is being rearranged with transport partners. To expedite distribution, Pertamina has launched several emergency strategies, including 24-hour operations. The Fuel Terminal Medan Group is now operating non-stop around the clock. Additionally, they have deployed 35 additional tanker trucks through a spot charter scheme. They are also reinforcing tanker truck crew (AMT) personnel by supporting drivers through Bekang TNI and Kodaeral I Belawan. Supply diversion is also being carried out by optimizing reserve supplies from the Fuel Terminal Kisaran, Fuel Terminal Siantar, and Integrated Terminal Lhokseumawe. "We continue to make various acceleration efforts so that fuel distribution to the public can run optimally. Through the support of additional fleets and personnel, we are striving to ensure that distribution to all SPBUs proceeds more quickly," said Fahrougi.
