Senior Minister Men Sam An visited five monasteries in Kratie province on June 28, donating offerings for the upcoming rainy season retreat (Vassa) to the monks. This is a significant traditional event for Cambodian Buddhists.
Senior Minister Men Sam An, who also serves as the King's Senior Advisor, along with Buddhist devotees, visited Kratie province on June 28. They collectively donated offerings for the upcoming rainy season retreat (Vassa) to monks at five pagodas: Wat Kratie Krong, Wat Phnom Sambok, Wat Vihir Sas 100, Wat Vihir Kok, and Wat Vihir Lao. According to the traditional customs of Buddhism in the Kingdom of Cambodia, all monks in every pagoda are required to enter the Vassa, a three-month period of monastic seclusion, from the first day of the waxing moon of the month of Asanha until the 15th day of the waxing moon of the month of Kadei. During this ceremony, Buddhist followers gathered to pay homage to the Triple Gem (Buddha, Dharma, Sangha) and invited monks to chant blessings. This is to dedicate merit to seven generations of relatives and ancestors who have passed away, allowing them to receive the benefits derived from the merit made on this day, in accordance with the traditions of Buddhism, which is the state religion. The donated items presented to the monks at the five pagodas included: one pair of Vassa candles (decorated), 100 kilograms of rice, five small cases of Cambodia bottled water, two cases of Coca-Cola, two cases of IZE orange juice, two cases of IZE grape juice, two cases of WURKZ, two cases of EXPREZ, three solar bulbs, two cases of dishwashing liquid, one case of toilet cleaner, one case of condensed milk, one case of milk, two cases of fresh milk, three buckets of washing powder, three cases of biscuits, six cases of 230 ml cooking oil, two bottles of 1000 ml cooking oil, two bundles of soy sauce, two bundles of fish sauce, two kilograms of salt, two kilograms of sugar, two kilograms of garlic, two kilograms of MSG, three cases of instant noodles, two blocks of incense, and two kilograms of beeswax candles. Furthermore, on this occasion, Senior Minister Men Sam An and her entourage also offered respects and offerings to the sacred figures of "Neang Krum Chhuk" and "Lok Chumteav Kanthong Khiev." They prayed for peace and prosperity for leaders at all levels, as well as for all citizens across Cambodia.
