Prasat Ballang District Governor Inspects Flood Situation Amidst Heavy Rainfall

In Prasat Ballang District, Kampong Thom Province, Cambodia, on September 22, 2026, District Governor Kong Samath, accompanied by his deputy and colleagues, inspected the flood situation caused by continuous heavy rainfall. The downpour has led to partial submersion of agricultural crops in several communes within the district. The inspection aimed to assess the damage and prepare swift intervention measures. The delegation also examined the condition of drainage systems along roads, which could contribute to flooding. While the current flood levels have not reached the threshold for an emergency declaration, heavy rain continues to persist in most parts of Prasat Ballang District, with dark skies indicating a possibility of further precipitation. District Governor Kong Samath urged residents to exercise caution, especially with young children, advising them not to play near water bodies. He also emphasized vigilance against bites from venomous creatures, instructing that in case of any incident, individuals should be promptly transported to the nearest health center for timely medical attention. Furthermore, he directed commune authorities and relevant agencies to continue their efforts in flood intervention, ensuring preparedness for safe evacuation sites and exploring possibilities for draining floodwaters from agricultural lands, even if no lives are immediately threatened. As of September 22, 2026, the floodwaters have inundated some of the residents' crops, with damages reported particularly in the communes of Sakream, Kraya, Samaki, and Doung, which are situated along the Stung Stung River.
