Phnom Penh Authorities Bust Online Scam Operation, Arrest 9 Bangladeshi Nationals

Authorities in Dangkao district, Phnom Penh, Cambodia, have busted an online scam operation and arrested nine Bangladeshi nationals on September 19th. The operation, part of an administrative inspection of foreign residents by the Dangkao District Unity Command, targeted a residence located at House No. 25B, Street 02B, in Mol village, Dangkao commune, Dangkao district, Phnom Penh. According to law enforcement officials, the nine foreign suspects, identified as Bangladeshi nationals, were actively engaged in online scam activities. During the raid, authorities seized a number of items believed to be used in the criminal operation, including six all-in-one computers, fifteen mobile phones, and a quantity of counterfeit US dollars. The nine suspects and the confiscated evidence have been transferred to the Phnom Penh Municipal Police Headquarters to build a case file before being forwarded to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court Prosecutor's Office for legal proceedings. This incident highlights the ongoing efforts by Cambodian authorities to combat cybercrime, which has seen a rise in the region.
