Da Nang Collects 686 Units of Blood at Red Journey Event
Da Nang City in central Vietnam collected 686 units of blood during the 'Giọt hồng Đà Nẵng' (Da Nang's Red Drop) blood donation event, part of the national 'Red Journey' campaign. The initiative aims to support the community's medical needs.
On July 5, Da Nang City in central Vietnam, in coordination with the municipal Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation and the Thanh Khê Ward Steering Committee for Blood Donation, organized the 'Giọt hồng Đà Nẵng' (Da Nang's Red Drop) blood donation event. This event is part of the national 'Red Journey' (Hành trình Đỏ) campaign. The event, held at Lê Thị Hồng Gấm Secondary School in Thanh Khê Ward, attracted nearly 1,000 participants, including local residents, youth, and armed forces personnel. By the end of the program, 686 units of blood were collected from volunteers. Truong Van Tien, a member of the local militia, registered early with his colleagues and shared, 'I regularly participate in volunteer blood donation. When an event is organized in the ward, our whole team registers together. We hope these drops of blood will contribute to timely blood supply for emergency and treatment of patients.' Prior to this, a blood donation point organized by the 'Living to Love' Club (Câu lạc bộ Sống để yêu thương) received 708 units of blood. Da Nang City aims to collect over 9,000 units of blood for the 14th "Red Journey" national program in 2026. The 14th "Red Journey" in 2026 will take place in June and July across 32 provinces and cities nationwide, with a target of collecting 120,000 units of blood (25,000 units at main events and 95,000 units at supporting events). In the first six months of 2026, Da Nang City's Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation, in collaboration with units across the city, organized 90 blood donation drives. This resulted in the collection of 30,705 units of blood, including 13,662 units of 350ml and 1,664 units of apheresis platelets, achieving 54.2% of the annual target and 111% of the target for the first half of the year.
