Don Keo City Authorities Urge Construction Owners to Obtain Permits
Don Keo City authorities in Takeo province, Cambodia, have ordered construction operators without permits to halt work and expedite the acquisition of legal building permits, aiming to enforce urban order and aesthetics. Unauthorized or illegal construction will face permanent suspension and legal action, ensuring citizen safety and urban development.
Authorities in Don Keo City, Takeo province, Cambodia, are intensifying efforts to enforce construction laws, aiming to strengthen urban order and aesthetics. Deputy Governor of Don Keo City, Mr. Sao Sophal, led relevant department officials in a direct inspection of construction sites within the Baray commune of Don Keo City on July 7, 2026. During the site visits, Mr. Sao Sophal instructed all owners of housing, buildings, or any other construction projects within Don Keo City's jurisdiction to absolutely obtain an official construction permit before commencing any construction activities. For construction sites found to be operating without a permit, work must be temporarily suspended. Owners are urged to promptly contact the relevant department of the Don Keo City administration to complete the legal construction permit application process in accordance with current laws. The Deputy Governor further stated that if any construction owners remain defiant and refuse to cooperate in obtaining permits, or continue to build secretly and against technical standards, the Don Keo City authorities will impose the strictest administrative measures. This includes permanent suspension of construction and legal proceedings under the Construction Law, without exception. These measures are intended to ensure the safety of residents' lives and property, and to contribute to building Don Keo City into an orderly, well-planned, and aesthetically pleasing urban environment. Mr. Sao Sophal also appealed to all citizens and investors undertaking construction projects in Don Keo City to respect construction laws and cooperate with the authorities for the sustainable and safe development of the city. Fifteen of these sites were found to be under construction without proper permits from the competent authorities, while the remaining 10 sites had owners who were in the process of preparing documents to apply for construction permits.
