Cambodian Ministry of Agriculture Inspects Decentralization Reform Progress in Kampong Thom Province

PHNOM PENH, July 23, 2026 – H.E. Vaa Pisey, Undersecretary of State of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, led a working group from the Committee for the Promotion of Decentralization and Deconcentration Reforms of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries to meet with the Department of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries in Kampong Thom Province. The meeting discussed and reviewed the progress of implementing functions in the agricultural, forestry, and fisheries sectors that have been transferred to sub-national administrations in Kampong Thom Province. The Ministry of Agriculture stated that during this event, the working group would continue to inspect the decentralization and deconcentration reforms in the agricultural, forestry, and fisheries sectors transferred to sub-national administrations, emphasizing the need for careful and responsible monitoring of this work. In addition, specialized working groups inspected the slaughterhouse in Stueng Saen City, located in Prey Ta Ho village, Stueng Saen City, Kampong Thom Province. The Ministry of Agriculture also reported that in addition to inspecting the decentralization and deconcentration reforms in the agricultural sector, H.E. Vaa Pisey led the working group to provide technical support and review administrative services in the agricultural, forestry, and fisheries sectors. They met with the Kampong Provincial Administration, with the participation of H.E. Ngun Rasy, Deputy Governor of Kampong Thom Province, colleagues, and representatives from the Ministry of Interior. The meeting aimed to review work progress and address various challenges in providing administrative services in the agricultural, forestry, and fisheries sectors through the one-stop service mechanism. They also reviewed administrative service applications related to agricultural work at the one-stop service unit of the Kampong Thom Provincial Administration, covering services for the fisheries sub-sector, animal health and production services, agricultural fertilizer and pesticide services, and other related issues.
