BANGLAMUNG, Chonburi: Banglamung Police took Police Sub-Lieutenant Thassaphong Thongthach, 55, into custody early Thursday after he surrendered following a tense 20-hour standoff at his home. The standoff began when Thassaphong, known as “Lieutenant Oh,” the deputy patrol leader, fatally shot his wife, a homeroom teacher, at a kindergarten in Banglamung. Dozens of students were present nearby at the time of the incident. Police negotiated with Thassaphong for over 20 hours before he eventually surrendered. The motive behind the shooting is currently under investigation, and the incident has sent shockwaves through the local community.
