Quang Tri Province Enhances Support for Meritorious Individuals with New Resolution

The Provincial People's Council of Quang Tri Province in central Vietnam has adopted Resolution No. 29/2026/NQ-HĐND, which enhances support levels and expands the beneficiary base for individuals who have made significant contributions to the revolution. This move by the provincial Party Committee and government is a practical step to honor those who sacrificed their lives for the nation's independence and freedom. Quang Tri is recognized as having one of the highest proportions of beneficiaries nationwide, with over 270,000 individuals categorized as meritoriously contributing to the revolution. This includes 33,747 martyrs, 42,164 wounded soldiers and those with equivalent status, and 4,197 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, 21 of whom are still alive. Currently, 35,000 individuals receive preferential treatment totaling over 105 billion VND per month. A significant aspect of Resolution 29 is its scientific and detailed classification of beneficiaries, ensuring no one who has contributed is overlooked, while also substantially increasing the support amounts. Notably, the resolution officially includes relatives or those venerating deceased Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, with a gift of 500,000 VND per recipient. This adds an estimated over 4 billion VND annually to the provincial budget. Furthermore, 53,456 individuals, including contributors, their relatives, and families of deceased Heroic Mothers, will receive gifts during the Lunar New Year and on July 27th (War Invalids and Martyrs' Day), with a total annual expenditure of over 34 billion VND. Despite facing numerous economic development challenges, Quang Tri Province remains committed to social welfare, particularly supporting meritorious individuals. The province has largely eliminated poor households among contributors, and most of these families now have a living standard equal to or higher than the local average. The province also plans to accelerate the digitization of all contributor records to streamline procedures and enhance direct dialogue for problem-solving. Efforts are also underway to mobilize social resources for the renovation and upgrading of martyrs' cemeteries, aiming to transform these sites into historical and cultural parks for patriotic education.
