Vietnam Weather: Widespread Rain, Rough Seas Warned with Potential for Tornadoes

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, northern regions and Thanh Hoa province will see scattered showers and thunderstorms, with some areas receiving heavy rainfall. Rainfall is projected to increase from August 3rd. Areas from Nghe An province to Hue city and the south-central coast are forecast to have isolated showers and thunderstorms, with Nghe An province potentially experiencing heavy downpours. The Central Highlands and the southern regions are also likely to encounter scattered showers and thunderstorms. During these thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning strikes, hail, and strong wind gusts. Maritime areas, including the Gulf of Tonkin, the sea from Ca Mau to An Giang province, the Gulf of Thailand, and the northern East Sea (including the waters around the Paracel Islands), are anticipating rain and thunderstorms. These events could bring about tornadoes and severe wind gusts of level 7-8, with sea waves potentially exceeding 2 meters. In Hanoi, cloudy skies with showers and thunderstorms are expected. The lowest temperature will be 25-27°C, and the highest will be 31-33°C. The Northwest region anticipates scattered showers and thunderstorms, with some areas receiving heavy rain. Temperatures will range from 22-26°C (low) to 30-33°C (high). The Northeast region is also forecast to have rain, with some areas experiencing heavy rainfall. Temperatures will be between 23-27°C (low) and 30-33°C (high). For the region from Thanh Hoa to Hue, the northern part will experience scattered showers and thunderstorms, with some heavy rainfall, while the southern part will have showers. Temperatures will be 24-27°C (low) to 30-33°C (high). The south-central coast is expected to have isolated showers and thunderstorms, with temperatures ranging from 24-27°C (low) to 30-33°C (high). The Central Highlands will see scattered showers and thunderstorms, with temperatures between 20-23°C (low) and 28-31°C (high). The southern region is forecast to have scattered showers and thunderstorms, with temperatures from 24-27°C (low) to 30-33°C (high). Ho Chi Minh City will also experience isolated showers and thunderstorms, with lows of 25-27°C and highs of 31-33°C. Separately, a 70-meter-long subsidence has occurred on National Highway 24, near the Vi Ô Lắk Pass in Kon Plông district, Quảng Ngãi province, causing half of the road to crack and sink. This landslide site has yet to be fully repaired after more than eight months.
