US Embassy Inspects Displaced Persons Project in Cambodia, Highlighting Outcomes of Kuala Lumpur Peace Accord

The Chargé d'Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Cambodia, Aleks Zittle, visited a project site for displaced families in Banteay Meanchey province. This initiative, funded by the United States and implemented by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), is considered a tangible outcome of the Kuala Lumpur Peace Accord, aiming to assist approximately 10,000 people in need. Ms. Zittle highlighted that the United States is supporting families displaced by the situation along the Cambodia-Thailand border. The assistance includes essential needs such as sturdy roofing materials for homes, safer shower facilities, and illuminated pathways, contributing to the stabilization of their living conditions. During her visit to Banteay Meanchey province, Ms. Aleks Zittle also met with local families, village chiefs, and the Governor of Banteay Meanchey province, who pledged continued support for the next phase of the project.
