11 people swept away by floodwaters in Laymyethna rescued

It has been learned from the Myanmar Social Rescue Organization (Mandalay Region Office) that 11 flood victims who were being swept away by floodwaters were rescued on the night of August 2 in Laymyethna Township, Ayeyarwady Region, where a dam had broken and flooding was occurring. Upon receiving news that there were people being swept away by the floodwaters, rescue teams collaborated with the Manisala Social Aid Organization to conduct a search, successfully rescuing 11 individuals swept away by the floodwaters and relocating them to a safe area. According to statistics as of August 2, it was learned from the statement of Dr. Khine Khine Soe, spokesperson for the President's Office, that in Laymyethna Township, 5 wards, 14 villages, 3,158 houses, 3,215 households, and 14,056 people have been affected by the flood. Currently, nine flood relief camps have been opened within Laymyethna Township, and there are 441 households and 1,411 people seeking refuge, according to information received.
