PNP Continues Hunt for Dela Rosa Amid Talks with Alleged Protectors

The Philippine National Police (PNP) confirmed that its efforts to arrest Senator Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa are ongoing, with reported negotiations underway with individuals allegedly protecting him. PNP spokesperson Police Colonel Allen Rae Co stated during a press briefing on Wednesday that operational details cannot be publicly disclosed as this would compromise ongoing operations and could endanger the safety of everyone involved, not just police personnel. "What we can confirm is that our efforts are ongoing and relentless. We will not yield and we will not be distracted from our goal," Co added. The PNP also warned that individuals assisting Dela Rosa could face legal consequences, depending on the nature of their cooperation. Dela Rosa is a subject of an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) in connection with alleged crimes against humanity involving former President Rodrigo Duterte. Co confirmed that the senator remains in the Philippines and is considered a flight risk. Furthermore, the PNP is pursuing the recovery of firearms registered under Dela Rosa's name. Out of 117 registered firearms linked to the senator, 20 have been surrendered in the Davao Region and six in Calabarzon, leaving 91 firearms unaccounted for. The PNP Firearms and Explosives Office (FEO) is coordinating with Dela Rosa's family for the surrender of the remaining firearms. — VDV, GMA News
