This directive was issued during an orientation meeting on information and public opinion held on July 15, 2026, at the provincial Department of Information. The meeting was chaired by H.E. Tep Asnarith, Undersecretary of State and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Information, and H.E. Pou Phonsamnang, Undersecretary of State of the Ministry of Information, and was attended by a large number of directors, deputy directors, and officials from the provincial Department of Information. H.E. Tep Asnarith provided in-depth strategic guidance, emphasizing the crucial role of skilled information officers in the digital age. He stated that strengthening the capacity and professionalism of information officers and journalists in collecting, analyzing, and managing information, as well as monitoring public opinion, serves as a robust defense line for responding to social events promptly and effectively. The undersecretary of state stressed that in the context of rapid technological advancements, information officers must keep pace with social developments. Grasping public opinion and accurately analyzing information not only helps disseminate truth to the public but also acts as a powerful tool to eliminate misinformation from unclear sources. Furthermore, H.E. Tep Asnarith placed significant emphasis on continuing to promote the 'Say NO to Fake News' campaign in its second phase. He clarified that false or fake news is a dangerous virus that can cause severe repercussions on social stability, national security, and public order. Therefore, jointly preventing and eradicating the spread of false information is an indispensable duty for every information officer, achieved through providing true, fast, rapid, and clearly sourced information to the audience.
