Ayeyarwaddy Times September 14 A fire broke out at the Bar4U beer shop on San Chaung Road, San Chaung North Ward, San Chaung Township, Yangon Region, on the evening of September 13, killing two shop employees and injuring one woman, according to local residents and social welfare organizations. The fire is believed to have started from a wire short circuit when someone went to check after smelling smoke during a birthday party at the beer shop around 8:19 PM on September 13. The fire resulted in the deaths of two men, aged 30 and 20, and injuries to one woman. "One of the deceased seemed to have tried to escape from the toilet. He was found lying face down dead in front of the toilet. He might not have been able to escape. Both were employees of the shop. I heard one was from the kitchen. I also saw the deceased's elder sister post on social media," a ground source told the Ayeyarwaddy Times. The fire was intense and accompanied by explosions, spreading to some adjacent restaurants and phone shops. "The fire started from the bar, and we heard explosions. The fire was so intense that it spread to the adjacent Win Star restaurant, a noodle shop, and a Phone Bank shop," said an eyewitness from the neighborhood to the Ayeyarwaddy Times. The phone shop named Phone Bank was opened in October 2025 by film actor and director Nyo Min Lwin and his friends. "The fire from the neighboring shop spread to our shop, and our entire Phone Bank San Chaung store was engulfed in flames," said Phone Bank. The fire was classified as Level 1 by the fire brigade and extinguished in cooperation with humanitarian organizations, with the fire being put out at 8:45 PM. The bodies of the deceased and the injured woman were transported to Yangon General Hospital by social welfare organizations. It is understood that the fire brigade's classification of a normal fire as Level 1 is based solely on the scale of the fire and the number of vehicles used for extinguishing, not on the occurrence of fatalities.
