Siem Reap Farmers Learn Climate-Resilient Vegetable Cultivation Techniques

A project aimed at promoting climate-resilient vegetable cultivation techniques to farmers is underway in Siem Reap province, Cambodia. From September 1st to 6th, 2026, the project facilitated 180 model farmers in applying techniques learned during their training. These farmers then shared these skills with neighboring farmers at six demonstration farms established across the province. Between June 8th and August 21st, 2026, 180 farmers selected from five agricultural communities and one modern agricultural community in Siem Reap province participated in farmer field school training on climate-resilient vegetable production at six demonstration sites. This initiative was supported by the "Project Kouch" (supported by the Green Climate Fund) through the Directorate General of Agriculture under the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. The training provided farmers with practical skills, including crop variety selection, seedling cultivation, soil preparation, soil fertility management, vegetable crop maintenance, composting, pest and disease management (including biological control), harvesting techniques, post-harvest handling, and economic analysis and business planning for vegetable cultivation. The project emphasizes a learning approach through direct practice and sharing with others. With improved techniques, farmers are expected to reduce losses, cope with challenges posed by climate change, and produce quality vegetables that meet market demand.
