Supreme Court Selects San Beda Alabang as Bar Exams Headquarters
The Philippine Supreme Court has designated San Beda College Alabang in Muntinlupa City as the headquarters for this year's bar examinations in September. A total of 15 testing centers will be established nationwide, with a record 14,291 applicants registered.
MANILA, Philippines — The Supreme Court has chosen the San Beda College Alabang (SBCA) in Muntinlupa City as this year’s headquarters for the bar exams in September. Aside from being the command center, the SCBA would also serve as one of the testing centers when the high court conducts the bar on Sept. 6, 9 and 13. There will be a total of 15 testing centers this year, seven of which will be in Metro Manila, three in Luzon, three in Visayas and two in Mindanao. READ: Localized Bar exam: MOA signed for 16 test centers on 4 Sundays in November In Metro Manila, testing centers were designated at the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law in Makati City, Manila Adventist College in Pasay City, New Era University in Quezon City, San Beda University and University of Santo Tomas in Manila, and University of the Philippines Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City. In Luzon, the bar exams will be held at Cagayan State University in Tuguegarao City, Saint Louis University in Baguio City, and University of Nueva Caceres in Naga City. In the Visayas, the testing centers are located at the Central Philippine University in Iloilo City, Dr. V. Orestes Romualdez Educational Foundation in Tacloban City, and University of San Jose-Recoletos in Cebu City. In Mindanao, bar takers will either be assigned at the Ateneo de Davao University in Davao City or at the Mindanao State University–Iligan Institute of Technology in Iligan City. According to the high court, this year’s bar exams would cover six core subjects, namely political and international law (15 percent), commercial and taxation laws (20 percent), civil law and land titles and deeds (20 percent), labor law and social legislation (10 percent), criminal law (10 percent), remedial law, legal and judicial ethics with practical exercises (25 percent). A total of 14,291 individuals applied for this year’s bar exams, the highest so far since they were administered in 1901, the Supreme Court noted. /mr
