What is BIMSTEC that the military leader is allowed to attend
How much do you know about a regional organization that represents a region where about 22 percent of the world's population, over 1.7 billion people, live? That organization is the "Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC)," formed by the cooperation of South Asian countries Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, and Southeast Asian countries Myanmar and Thailand. BIMSTEC was established 29 years ago, on June 6, 1997, with the signing of the historic Bangkok Declaration in Bangkok, Thailand. Initially, it was not a seven-member country organization as it is now. As only four countries—Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, and Thailand—participated, it was called BIST-EC, combining the first letters of the country names. On December 22 of that year, Myanmar joined as a member, and the organization's name was changed to BIMST-EC. Subsequently, in February 2004, Nepal and Bhutan joined, and it has stood as BIMSTEC with seven member countries to this day. The full details can be viewed in the video. It was provided by Pa Khui and presented by Htun Htun Win. Edited by Min Zin
