President To Lam's France Visit Focuses on Space Cooperation and Strategic Partnership
Vietnamese President To Lam has begun an official visit to France, attending the International Space Summit. The visit aims to highlight Vietnam's commitment to international space cooperation and leverage France's strengths in science, technology, and innovation to meet Vietnam's development needs, aligning with the Party's foreign policy orientations.
General Secretary and President To Lam and his spouse Ngo Phuong Ly arrived in Paris on early September 10, 2026. He was welcomed by French Minister of the Interior Laurent Nuñez and French Ambassador to Viet Nam Olivier Brochet. Viet Nam and France officially established diplomatic relations on April 12, 1973. The bilateral relations have developed positively and comprehensively on the foundation of growing political trust and deep historical, cultural and people-to-people ties. The visit underscores Viet Nam's particular importance attached to the comprehensive strategic partnership with France. It also provides an opportunity to connect France's strengths in science and technology, innovation and strategic technology sectors with Viet Nam's emerging development needs. To's attendance at the International Space Summit demonstrates Viet Nam's development vision and proactive approach to international integration, while carrying out at the highest level the Party's major policies and orientations on external relations, international integration, and the development of science, technology and innovation.
