Indonesia's Deputy Minister of Industry, Panggah Susanto, has stated the government's intention to increase support for shoemakers in the Bandung region of West Java to enhance their competitiveness in international markets. Susanto highlighted Bandung's traditional role as a hub for shoemaking, with a concentration of numerous Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). He pointed out that challenges faced by these businesses include the need for product quality improvement, design innovation, and effective international marketing strategies. The government plans to provide technical assistance and training programs to help MSMEs develop products that meet international standards. Furthermore, efforts will focus on supporting participation in international exhibitions and expanding sales channels through e-commerce platforms. The objective is to boost the international recognition of Bandung-made footwear brands and increase exports. Indonesia is establishing itself as a manufacturing hub in the ASEAN region and is particularly focused on expanding exports in the textile and apparel sectors. By fully leveraging the potential of the Bandung shoemaking industry, it is expected to contribute to the growth of the Indonesian economy.
