Cambodia Emphasizes Human Rights and International Cooperation at UN
Cambodia reaffirmed its commitment to the rule of law and proper judicial system functioning during a UN interactive dialogue on arbitrary detention. It stated that international criminal cooperation is conducted based on existing legal frameworks.
On September 15, 2026, at the United Nations in Geneva, Madam Chhuon Panyar, First Secretary of the Permanent Mission of Cambodia, delivered remarks during an interactive dialogue with the Working Group on Arbitrary Detention, under Agenda Item 3. She reiterated Cambodia's commitment to the rule of law and the proper functioning of its justice system. Madam Panyar noted that arrests, detentions, and trials are conducted in accordance with the Constitution and relevant laws, with guarantees of the presumption of innocence and the right to appeal. Furthermore, she emphasized that Cambodia's cooperation with other states on criminal matters is carried out within existing legal frameworks, adhering to national laws, international agreements, and proper procedures.
