West Sumatra MSMEs Receive IDR 115.77 Billion Stimulus Post-Disaster

JAKARTA - The government has prepared a stimulus of IDR 115.77 billion to recover 38,507 micro-businesses affected by disasters in West Sumatra in 2026. This assistance is expected to help business actors return to operations while supporting regional economic activities after the disaster. Deputy Secretary for Entrepreneurship of the Ministry of MSME, Rahmadi, said the assistance was provided through the Banpres micro business rehabilitation program with a value of IDR 3 million for each recipient who meets the requirements. "The total allocation of the budget for West Sumatra Province in 2026 is IDR 119.3 billion which is divided into three clusters, namely Banpres rehabilitation of micro-enterprises, empowerment of MSMEs, and the Bangkit UMKM Clinic," said Rahmadi as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, September 3. With this allocation, the government not only provides business rehabilitation assistance, but also prepares empowerment programs to encourage the sustainability of micro-businesses after disasters. The Ministry of MSME estimates that the validation process is an important factor in determining the effectiveness of budget allocation. Therefore, the number of micro-entrepreneurs proposed as candidates for recipients will be increased by 25 percent of the available quota. The additional quota is prepared to anticipate candidates who do not meet the requirements or experience obstacles during the data validation process. "If the number is higher, the data will be stored for 2027. This will also make it easier for related services in the data collection of micro entrepreneurs who will receive the next Banpres," he said. From a total of 13 regencies and cities affected by the disaster, the government divided the implementation of the program into three service regions. Service centers are located in Agam Regency, Padang City, and Mentawai Islands. The distribution is expected to make the distribution of assistance more effective and reach business actors in need. The local government will be responsible for validating the data of affected MSMEs, providing PIC, and ensuring the readiness of the location and participants in the activity. Rahmadi said that coordination between the central and local governments was the key to ensuring that the SME recovery program ran according to target.
