Over 800,000 methamphetamine pills worth over 1 billion kyats, which were destined for Rakhine State, were seized in Pyu Town, according to a statement from the Anti-Narcotics Drug Enforcement Department. The Anti-Narcotics Drug Enforcement Department, acting on information, searched a MINIBUS vehicle driven by Ni Win and accompanied by Thein Tun, around 2:30 PM on September 4, near Kan Swel village, Seik Cho village tract, Pyu Town, on the Pyu-Natmauk road. The search resulted in the seizure of 860,000 methamphetamine pills (valued at 1.3035 billion kyats in the region) from the vehicle. According to follow-up investigations, on September 4, Nay Paing Soe (aka Jar Gyi, aka Aung Kyaw Myint), who was instructed to transport the seized methamphetamine pills from Pyin Pya village, Ramathine Township, to Kwan Laung village, Aung Lan Township, was arrested along with a HONDA INSIGHT vehicle at a hotel in Pyi Thayar (South) Ward, Myitnge Town. Additionally, at the 115-mile mark of the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway, Kyaw Thar (aka Aung Kyaw), who managed the transportation and sale of methamphetamine pills, along with Ko Soe and Yu Yu Maw, were arrested with 194 methamphetamine pills (valued at 380,000 kyats in the region), 9,171,500 kyats in Myanmar currency, and a GRAND TIGER vehicle. Based on their confessions, on September 5, Ray Min Aung (aka Par Saing) was arrested at his home in Pyin Pya village, Ramathine Township. Moe Aung (aka Salai Moe Aung), who was further transporting the methamphetamine pills from Aung Lan to Ann Township, Rakhine State, was arrested with a NISSAN VANETTE vehicle in Pyi Thayar Ward, Pyu City. The PAJERO vehicle used by Nay Paing Soe (aka Jar Gyi, aka Aung Kyaw Myint) for transporting methamphetamine pills was seized near Kway Gyi village, Myitnge Township. According to investigation findings, it was revealed that the seized methamphetamine pills were brought to Ramathine Township for sale by Maung Win (aka Aung Sein, aka Aung Thein, aka Aung Htin) (to be arrested), a resident of Kalaw Township, Southern Shan State. The transportation from Ramathine to Aung Lan was carried out under the arrangements of Kyaw Thar (aka Aung Kyaw). Those transporting from Aung Lan to Ann Township, Rakhine State, were Moe Aung (aka Salai Moe Aung), Ray Aung (to be arrested), and Ko U (to be arrested). It is reported that Shwe Lin (to be arrested) was the one who would further transport them from Ann to Maungdaw. According to the confessions of Kyaw Thar (aka Aung Kyaw), who was involved in the transportation and sale of methamphetamine pills, and the arrested individuals, Nay Nay Oo of the AA terrorist group was the one who connected with the main organizer Maung Win (aka Aung Sein, aka Aung Thein, aka Aung Htin) (to be arrested) and continued to transport the drugs to the other country via Maungdaw, Rakhine State. Those who collaborated in the repeated transportation and sale of methamphetamine pills from Shan State to Rakhine State have been prosecuted under the Law Relating to Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances. Investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend further perpetrators of these crimes. Furthermore, actions are being taken under the Anti-Money Laundering Law to confiscate the financial profits and assets derived from their drug trafficking activities, as stated in the release from the Anti-Narcotics Drug Enforcement Department.
