Vietnam Launches 'TinAI?' Campaign to Boost Information Verification Skills

Vietnam has launched the 'TinAI?' campaign, centered on the slogan 'Verify Before You Trust,' to foster a public habit of verifying information before believing, sharing, or making decisions based on online content. This initiative aims to strengthen the nation's defenses against misinformation. In recent years, the rapid spread of false and misleading information online has become a global concern, leading to social unrest and distrust. The Communist Party of Vietnam recognizes the enhancement of media literacy among its citizens as a critical task in the information and communication sector, and this campaign is a key part of that effort. The campaign will emphasize the importance of not accepting information at face value, but rather consulting multiple sources and investigating the origin of content encountered on social media and news sites. With the advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) enabling the creation of more sophisticated disinformation, bolstering information verification skills in the AI era is becoming increasingly urgent. As a one-party state experiencing rapid economic growth and digitalization, Vietnam sees improving information literacy as essential for its societal stability and development. Furthermore, in the context of its relationship with China, where information influence is a factor, strengthening its own information space is a significant consideration. The Vietnam News Agency (VNA) is also bolstering its information dissemination capabilities by launching a digital-specialized information platform. Cooperation with Laos in the information and communication sectors is also valued, suggesting potential for broader regional collaboration in information sharing and combating disinformation.
