Indonesia, Thailand Boost Cooperation Against Transnational Crime

Indonesia and Thailand have agreed to enhance cooperation in combating transnational crime between the two countries. This agreement aims to counter crimes that threaten regional stability, such as drug trafficking, terrorism, and human trafficking. Both nations concurred that promoting information sharing and conducting joint operations would effectively thwart the activities of criminal organizations. In particular, the influx of narcotics has become a serious social issue within Indonesia, making cooperation with Thailand essential for disrupting supply routes. The establishment of a cross-border cooperation framework is also urgently needed for tracking terrorist activities and dismantling human trafficking networks. Authorities from both countries plan to deepen effective collaboration through regular consultations and joint exercises. This enhanced cooperation is expected to contribute to maintaining peace and security in the ASEAN region. Indonesia and Thailand have indicated their intention to demonstrate leadership in combating transnational crime within the ASEAN framework.
