Industrial Development : Myanmar develops six new medicines through research Six new medicines have successfully passed research and testing by the Myanmar Pharmaceutical Industry under the Ministry of Industry and MSME Development. A ceremony to mark the successful development was held at the Research Department in Insein Township of Yangon on Friday, and it was virtually attended by Union Minister Dr. Charlie Than. The six newly developed medicines include two diabetes treatments, one HIV treatment, one medicine for bone and joint diseases, one cancer treatment, and one anesthetic drug. The ministry said the new medicines were developed in line with international Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards to ensure quality, safety, and effectiveness. The research success is expected to help improve public healthcare, reduce dependence on imported medicines, and save foreign currency. The medicines will be transferred to local pharmaceutical factories for production and distribution to hospitals, health facilities, and the market.
