Eight youths arrested in group stabbing incident in San Chaung

Seven males and one female youth involved in the stabbing incident of two students that occurred at San Chaung Link Mon Zay Tan on Barker Road, San Chaung Township, Yangon Region, have been arrested, according to the Yangon Region Police Force. The incident involved a group of youths led by Thu Yein Htun stabbing two students, hitting them on the head with stones, and collectively beating them at San Chaung Link Mon Zay Tan on the evening of September 17. Following the incident, police reviewed CCTV footage and arrested seven males aged between 14 and 21, and one female on September 21, who were involved in the crime. It is reported that one of the perpetrators is still at large. According to the initial statements of the perpetrators, the group led by Thu Yein Htun called and summoned the two students to their location and proceeded to stab them, hit them on the head with stones, and collectively beat them because they were displeased with a prank played on their girlfriend via Telegram. Regarding this incident, cases have been opened and legal action is being taken against the perpetrators under sections 294/323/324/506/114 of the Penal Code at the San Chaung Myoma Police Station.
