US Deports 47 Vietnamese Nationals for Law Violations; Vietnam Accepts

Forty-seven Vietnamese nationals, found to have violated US laws, have been received by Vietnamese authorities upon their deportation from the United States. This represents the largest group of returnees accepted by Ho Chi Minh City authorities since the beginning of 2026, according to a recent report by the Vietnamese newspaper Nhan Dan. The handover and reception of these individuals took place at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi, facilitated by cooperation between Vietnamese and US authorities, in accordance with an existing bilateral cooperation agreement. Vietnamese authorities have stated that the reception process for these returnees was conducted in compliance with the law, ensuring their safety, order, and the protection of their legal rights. For those who are homeless, unable to contact family, or are in difficult situations such as being elderly, having health problems, or having lost contact with family for many years, authorities will facilitate temporary accommodation and social assistance through relevant institutions. Concurrently, authorities have called on citizens intending to study, work, travel, or reside abroad to respect the laws of their destination countries, avoiding illegal entry and exit, the use of fraudulent documents, and involvement in human trafficking networks or illegal migration.
