AI Summary

Bank Indonesia (BI) aims to strengthen Indonesia's position as the world's fourth-largest coffee producer through the annual Java Coffee, Flavors and Festival (JCFF) 2026 in Surabaya. East Java is a leading production region, and BI is supporting market expansion and economic benefits for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

Bank Indonesia (BI) is working to strengthen Indonesia's position as the world's fourth largest coffee producer through the annual Java Coffee, Flavors and Festival (JCFF) 2026 in Surabaya, East Java. "If we look at the data, in the world specifically for coffee, there are four world coffee producers and Indonesia is number four," said Deputy Head of the Bank Indonesia Representative Office (KPw BI) for East Java Province Rifki Ismal in Surabaya, Saturday. He said there were four countries as coffee producers in the world, namely Brazil, Vietnam, Colombia, and Indonesia. For Indonesia, said Rifki, coffee production reaches 780 thousand tons per year with East Java being one of the largest coffee producers nationally, especially the Java region, which reaches 53 thousand tons per year. "Coffee in East Java is among the highest with a production of 53 thousand tons, while Central Java and West Java are around 25 thousand tons," he said. The abundant coffee production potential, according to Rifki, is what Bank Indonesia wants to develop in order to strengthen Indonesia's position as a world coffee producer through exports. Moreover, coffee producers from Indonesia are actually from Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) so expanding their market will have a multiplier effect on the economy. In this case, he said Bank Indonesia supports the development and expansion of the local coffee market through the JCFF 2026 event which has various agendas, business matching and business coaching. Even in the business matching festival agenda which will take place from July 17-19, 2026 in the Surabaya City Square, it can bring MSMEs together with buyers not only from national but also global. Rifki admitted that he was optimistic that the output of JCFF 2026 would be able to surpass the achievements of the previous year's implementation, which managed to receive visits from around 130 thousand people with a total transaction reaching Rp. 107 billion during the three-day implementation. "The optimism is quite high," he said, because there are more than 60 SME tenants involved, including 41 coffee MSMEs built by Bank Indonesia and other product MSMEs such as chocolate, tea, herbs and spices. "Alhamdulillah, last year it was Rp107 billion. This year we expect the transaction to be higher because not only coffee, tea and chocolate, but also many other products that we are involved in this year," he said.
