Illegal Gambling Den Raided in Kampong Speu, 7 Arrested

In Samrong Tong District, Kampong Speu Province, Cambodia, an illegal gambling operation (A Pao) has been cracked down upon, resulting in the arrest of seven individuals. Police forces raided the site where the gamblers were actively engaged in the activity within a coconut plantation, seizing gambling mats, one motorcycle, and four mobile phones. The raid on the illegal gambling den took place around 12:30 PM on September 18th, at a location within the coconut plantation owned by Mr. Him Vantheng, in Bay Sra village, Tum Peuas commune, Samrong Tong district. According to the Samrong Tong district police, the seven individuals apprehended were identified as Phean Sophath (25, male), Him Phannith (35, male), Oun Sophea (42, male), all residents of Bay Sra village; Yin Sao (39, male) from Tuek S'oy village; Kan Phanna (25, male) from PNH Orng village; Nut Det (25, male) from Tang Kantoat village; and Chuop Mao (35, male) from Peam Khleay village. All reside in Tum Peuas commune. Police stated that prior to the arrest, the gamblers had gathered and were actively playing A Pao. The criminal forces of Samrong Tong district, in collaboration with the anti-drug unit and the commune police force of Tum Peuas, conducted the raid on the A Pao gambling site within Mr. Him Vantheng's coconut plantation. Seven individuals were detained, and evidence including one gambling mat, a Honda Wave 125 motorcycle (license plate Kampong Speu 1AC-6410), and four mobile phones were confiscated. The Samrong Tong district police confirmed that after apprehending the gamblers and collecting evidence, a case file has been built and sent to the Kampong Speu Provincial Police headquarters for further legal proceedings.
