Vietnam Boosts Agro-Forestry Export Value Through Supply Chain Enhancement

Vietnam has developed a relatively comprehensive supply chain, covering forest plantations, raw materials, processing, design, manufacturing, and logistics, creating jobs for about one million workers, said Nguyen Quoc Khanh, Chairman of the Vietnam Timber and Forest Product Association (VIFOREST) and Chairman of the Board of Directors of AA Corporation. This supply chain enhancement is a crucial strategy for increasing the added value of Vietnam's agro-forestry exports. Vietnam has seen several export items surpass US$10 billion in value in recent years and has overcome export headwinds through market diversification. New opportunities are emerging, particularly in sectors such as agriculture, forestry, and fisheries. Under its one-party system, the Vietnamese government prioritizes economic growth and promotes policies that support the development of export industries. By integrating into global supply chains, Vietnam aims to enhance its competitiveness in the international market and sustain economic development. Diversifying export destinations is also considered important for risk management, especially given Vietnam's strong economic ties with China. This supply chain strengthening is expected not only to increase export value but also to improve the lives of its citizens through the upgrading of domestic industries and job creation.
