Dela Rosa last tracked to Mindanao amid ICC probe

MANILA, Philippines — Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla on Wednesday said Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa was last tracked to somewhere in Mindanao. Wanted by the International Criminal Court (ICC) over his alleged participation in former President Rodrigo Duterte’s war on drugs, dela Rosa went back into hiding and was last seen leaving the country. Remulla confirmed that dela Rosa was last seen leaving the country and was last tracked to somewhere in Mindanao. Earlier, dela Rosa said he was willing to be arrested if the ICC issued an arrest warrant against him. “I am willing to be arrested. I will not resist arrest,” dela Rosa said in a privilege speech at the Senate. However, he also said that he would not allow himself to be arrested by the ICC. “I will not allow myself to be arrested by the ICC. If they want to arrest me, they have to do it through our local authorities,” dela Rosa said. Dela Rosa said that he was willing to face the charges against him in the Philippines. “I am willing to face the charges against me in the Philippines. I believe that our local authorities will give me a fair trial,” dela Rosa said.
