Indonesian Athletes to Showcase Gorga and Limar Patterns on 2026 Asian Games Uniforms
The official uniforms for Indonesia's 432 athletes at the 2026 Asian Games will feature Gorga patterns from North Sumatra and Limar from South Sumatra, aiming to showcase Indonesia's diverse culture on the international stage.
A total of 432 Indonesian athletes who will compete in the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, will carry the Nusantara identity through official uniforms featuring Gorga accents typical of Toba and Limar from South Sumatra. The Chairman of the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI/NOC Indonesia), Raja Sapta Oktohari, stated that athletes' uniforms are more than just competition gear; they serve to convey Indonesia's identity on the international stage. "Every time the athletes wear this apparel, there is a story about Indonesia that they bring with them. From the diversity of our culture, one identity is born as the Indonesian Team," Okto said in a statement. Gorga, symbolizing strength and protection, and Limar, representing honor and excellence, are the main cultural elements translated into modern designs by Ghea Panggabean through Ghea Fashion Studio. Sarinah served as the design curator, and Mills is the official apparel provider for the Indonesian Team. For Ghea, this marks her first foray into sportswear design after 45 years of exploring textiles and Nusantara culture. "Designing uniforms for the nation's sports ambassadors is an extraordinary honor. Gorga symbolizes strength and protection, while Limar represents honor and excellence," she commented. Chef de Mission of the Indonesian Team, Todotua Pasaribu, expressed hope that the uniform would instill pride in the athletes and motivate them to compete with distinction. "From this jersey, we hope that the athletes will have a sense of pride to fight with their heads held high to wave the Red and White on the highest stage of the 2026 Asian Games," Todotua stated. Indonesia is sending 432 athletes to the Games, which will take place from September 19 to October 4, with a target of winning four gold medals.
