Prabowo Cabinet's Achievements Praised by Academics for 'Real Work'
Indonesian President Prabowo announced the resolution of 108 national issues in less than two years. Academics have praised these achievements as prioritizing 'real work,' particularly viewing the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program as a long-term investment for the future.
JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto of Indonesia has reported significant progress, stating that his administration has resolved 108 national issues in less than two years since taking office. This announcement was made during the Mid-Year 2026 Plenary Cabinet Meeting held at the State Palace. A number of academics have lauded these achievements, characterizing the government's approach as one that prioritizes tangible outcomes and measurable results. Dr. Isthifa Kemal, an academic from North Sumatra Muhammadiyah University (UMSU), commented that the President's presentation showcased a leadership style oriented towards achieving concrete results, moving beyond mere rhetoric. "The president is not just talking about hope, but delivering concrete numbers. A total of 108 national problems that were completed in less than two years is not an easy figure. This is proof that the Prabowo government does not spend time just making promises, but works to produce measurable and accountable outputs," Dr. Kemal stated in a written release on Saturday (25/7). According to Dr. Kemal, the achievements presented by the President are not solely confined to physical development and economic indicators. He believes they are instrumental in laying the groundwork for human resource development, crucial for realizing Indonesia's vision of 'Indonesia's Gold 2045.' Dr. Kemal specifically highlighted the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) Program, which is projected to reach 82.9 million beneficiaries by the end of 2026. He views the MBG program as a long-term investment aimed at enhancing the quality of Indonesian human resources. "Children who are covered by the gift will be better prepared to receive learning and grow into a productive generation. When the President targets 82.9 million beneficiaries, he is laying the most important foundation for Indonesia's Gold 2045. This is a long-term investment for the quality of the nation's generation," he explained. Furthermore, Dr. Kemal appreciated President Prabowo's directive to the cabinet to remain humble, or 'ojo dumeh,' despite recording various achievements. He considers this attitude an important leadership example for the younger generation in shaping the nation's character. Dr. Iswadi, an academic and public policy observer, shared a similar positive assessment. He views the Plenary Cabinet Meeting as a significant moment to assess the realization of programs promised by President Prabowo at the outset of his administration. "A total of 108 national problems were solved in less than two years. Andantara stands as the first sovereign institution in the history of the nation with assets of more than USD 1,000 billion. The 26 projects are being implemented with an investment of Rp 225 trillion and a target of absorbing more than 37 thousand workers. This is not just a promise, but a realization," Dr. Iswadi stated. He also assessed the government's achievements in the food and energy sectors as a crucial milestone in strengthening national independence. According to Dr. Iswadi, the record-high national rice reserves, the increase in the farmers' exchange rate, and the implementation of B50 biodiesel, which has successfully halted the import of solar fuel, are tangible indicators of the government's success. "Rice reserves are at the highest point in history, farmers' exchange rates have reached a record, and B50 which stops solar imports shows that Indonesia is moving towards food and energy independence simultaneously. Food self-sufficiency in the era of President Prabowo is a fast, strategic, and historic achievement," he added. Dr. Iswadi concluded that these accomplishments provide essential capital for continuing the government's priority programs in the coming years. "A combination of measured execution, a humble attitude of nationalism, and a long-term vision is a very valuable leadership capital. The completion of 108 national issues, the establishment of Danantara, the acceleration of downstream processing, the strengthening of food security, and the Free Nutritious Meal Program which reaches tens of millions of Indonesian children are proof of the government's commitment in realizing Golden Indonesia 2045," he stated.
