Top Korean University Seeks Expanded Cooperation with Cambodian Institutions

Jeonbuk National University (JNU), a top-ranked national university in South Korea, has expressed its desire to expand cooperation with Cambodian universities and increase the enrollment of Cambodian students, particularly in the fields of semiconductors and physical artificial intelligence (AI). This intention was conveyed during a meeting on Monday, September 7th, between Cambodian Ambassador to South Korea, Khun Phon Ratanak, and Dr. O-Bong Yang, President of Jeonbuk National University, at the university campus in Jeonbuk Province. Dr. O-Bong Yang informed Ambassador Phon Ratanak that JNU currently collaborates with several universities in Cambodia and aims to further broaden its partnerships with other Cambodian higher education institutions. He specifically highlighted the university's interest in welcoming more Cambodian students to pursue studies in specialized areas such as semiconductor manufacturing and physical AI. Ambassador Phon Ratanak expressed gratitude to JNU for providing opportunities to Cambodian students through scholarships and tuition waivers. He voiced strong support for expanding academic cooperation between universities of the two nations. The Ambassador emphasized that expertise in semiconductors and physical AI is crucial for Cambodia's current and future economic development, and he hopes more Cambodian students will have the chance to study these subjects at JNU. During the meeting, Ambassador Phon Ratanak extended an invitation to Dr. O-Bong Yang to visit Cambodia. He assured that the Cambodian Embassy would be pleased to facilitate meetings between JNU and relevant Cambodian ministries and institutions during the President's potential visit. Jeonbuk National University is ranked third among national universities in South Korea and boasts significant expertise in fields like semiconductors, physical AI, and agriculture.
