Kampong Thom: Border Situation and Military Discipline Highlighted in Briefing

In Kampong Thom Province, Cambodia, on July 27, 2026, a briefing was held at the Kampong Thom Provincial Military Operations Area Command (Military Region 4) to disseminate recent border situation developments and reiterate the law on the general statute of military personnel of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces. The meeting was presided over by Major General Som Son, Commander of the Kampong Thomson Provincial Military Operations Area, with the participation of numerous officers, non-commissioned officers, and soldiers. Lieutenant Colonel Sun Samon, Chief of the 1st Office of the Kampong Thom Provincial Military Operations Area Command, read out the law on the general statute of military personnel, highlighting key points that all military personnel must adhere to and those they must avoid. He also emphasized Chapter 7 of the law, which pertains to disciplinary actions against military personnel who commit offenses. Major General Som Son briefed attendees on the latest situations along the Cambodia-Thailand border, specifically noting repeated violations of the ceasefire agreement, signed by both countries on December 27, 2025, by the Thai military. He also praised the bravery and resilience of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces soldiers who are steadfastly defending the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Cambodia amidst all difficulties. Major General Som Son instructed all officers, non-commissioned officers, and soldiers to strictly abide by the law on the general statute of military personnel. He stressed that all military personnel must be absolutely loyal to the nation, religion, the King, and the legally elected government, led by Prime Minister Samdech Moha Bovor Thipadei Hun Manet. During the occasion, Major General Som Son warned all military personnel under his command against committing any acts that violate the general statute of military personnel and state laws. He stated that any military personnel found in violation of military discipline would face punishment according to Chapter 7 of the law on the general statute of military personnel.
