Cambodia Rural Road Construction: Inspection of Progress and Impact on Residents
Cambodia's Minister of Rural Development inspected a 1km concrete road under construction in Kandal province, assessing progress and impact on residents. He specifically addressed delays and traffic disruptions caused by the rainy season, ordering swift remedial actions.
Chhay Rithisen, Minister of Rural Development, inspected the construction site of a 1-kilometer long, 6-meter wide concrete road connecting Pongro village to Sre Ampil village in Chhveang Commune, Ponhear Loeuk District, Kandal Province. The road, constructed by the Engineering Corps of the Ministry of National Defense, has reached approximately 90% completion. The inspection, held on September 20, revealed that while the main road construction is 100% complete, the development of the roadside has been delayed due to heavy rainfall during the rainy season, causing disruptions to the movement and livelihoods of residents. The Minister instructed the Engineering Corps to expedite road clearing and leveling work to facilitate normal traffic and economic activities for the residents as soon as possible. With the cooperation of local authorities and residents, the issue was resolved smoothly. The Minister emphasized that strict measures will be taken to ensure adherence to technical standards in road construction to prevent similar problems from recurring in the future.
