Dr. Hun Sokha Attends Inauguration Ceremony for Temple Facilities in Kampot

On the morning of July 19, 2026, Dr. Hun Sokha, advisor to Prime Minister Hun Sen and head of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) grassroots member mobilization working group for Kampot province, led a delegation to attend the inauguration ceremony for a new kuti (monk's residence) and other achievements at Wat Ayuyunyuor, also known as Wat Phnom Truyung, in Kampot province. The ceremony was also attended by the Sangha, including the Chief Monk of the district, the Abbot, and other monks, as well as the Director of the Provincial Department of Cults and Religion, commune council officials, authorities from all levels, the temple committee, and a large number of enthusiastic lay Buddhists, all expressing joy and reverence. To begin, a representative from Loeung commune briefed Dr. Hun Sokha on the history of the temple and the newly completed achievements ready for official inauguration. During the occasion, Dr. Hun Sokha delivered remarks, conveying greetings and well-wishes from provincial leaders, especially from Samdech Techo and his wife, who always share in the joys and sorrows of the people. The newly inaugurated achievements, including the kuti and other structures, serve as a testament to the development of Buddhism, the state religion, under the full attention and support of leaders at all levels, party working groups, and various philanthropists. These facilities are intended to meet the needs of monks for residence and study of the Dhamma and Vinaya, and to serve as a place of worship for the entire local population. The ceremony celebrating these Buddhist achievements was grandly organized over one night and two days within the premises of Wat Ayuyunyuor (Phnom Truyung) in Loeung commune, Dang Tong district, Kampot province.
