Siem Reap Deputy Governor Emphasizes Education as Key to Future and Human Resource Development

Siem Reap Provincial Deputy Governor, Ms. Moni Rongsey, emphasized that education is a crucial key to opening the door to the future and a fundamental basis for building high-quality human resources, essential for meeting the needs of the nation's economic and social development. Her remarks were made on the afternoon of September 10, at the Westgate International School in Siem Reap Province, during a ceremony to honor students who achieved excellent academic results for the 2025-2026 academic year. Ms. Moni Rongsey congratulated all students who achieved good results, especially the two students who received grade A. She stated that without education, no society can progress, and education is the key to unlocking the future. She highlighted that the Cambodian government places high importance on human resource development by strengthening the quality of education, science, technology, and digital skills, in line with the government's "Pentagonal Strategy." She also encouraged parents and guardians to promote reading and mastering the Khmer language among their children, noting that reading enhances knowledge, improves concentration, and reduces excessive use of mobile phones or electronic devices. Concurrently, she appealed to families and communities to work together to educate children and youth to stay away from drugs, which can destroy the future of individuals, families, and the nation. Mr. Rath Rasmey, Director of Westgate International School, reported that approximately 98.5% of students achieved academic success in the past year. Specifically, 100% of students passed the lower secondary school leaving certificate examination (Grade 9), with 14% receiving excellent grades. For the upper secondary school leaving certificate examination (Grade 12), the success rate was 97.5%, with two students achieving grade A, 12 receiving grade B, 12 grade C, 27 grade D, and 13 grade E.
