Tanjun General Hospital is providing emergency life-saving treatment for patients even without specialist doctors for cardiology, neurology, and neurosurgery, Yangon Region Social Affairs Minister U Bo Htay said. This was in response to a question raised by U Naing Win, a regional parliamentarian for Constituency No. 1 in Dagon Myothit Township, at the 12th day of the 3rd regular session of the 3rd Yangon Region Hluttaw, held on August 31, regarding the arrangement of specialist doctors for cardiology, neurology, and neurosurgery at Tanjun General Hospital. Although specialist doctors for cardiology, neurology, and neurosurgery are not available at Tanjun General Hospital, professors, associate professors, senior specialists, and specialists are providing emergency examinations and emergency life-saving treatments for these patients, it is said. The minister, U Bo Htay, stated that once the patients' conditions stabilize, they are transported by ambulance to North Okkalapa General Hospital, and if the patient's relatives request hospitalization at Yangon General Hospital, arrangements are made. Regional Hluttaw representative U Naing Win said that if specialist doctors for cardiology, neurology, and neurosurgery can provide patient care at Tanjun General Hospital, it would be beneficial for the people of Tanjun Township, Dagon Myothit 4 Townships, and other nearby townships. It is known that Tanjun General Hospital is the teaching hospital of the University of Medicine 2 and provides health examinations, check-ups, and treatments for the public in 20 specialized fields. Under the guidance of the Union Minister of Health and the supervision of the heads of the Department of Medical Services, wards were designated, medical staff were assigned, and necessary medicines, medical supplies, and equipment were provided to establish these specialized fields as a 500-bed hospital, it is said. Similarly, North Okkalapa General Hospital, the main teaching hospital of the University of Medicine 2, also has specialized fields designated and operational, including cardiology, neurology, and neurosurgery. Therefore, when necessary, patients are referred and sent from Tanjun General Hospital to North Okkalapa General Hospital, it is known.
