Vinh Long Province Selects Science and Technology as New Growth Engine

Vinh Long Province, located in the south-central region of Vietnam, is strengthening its efforts to position science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation as new growth engines for the regional economy. On the afternoon of July 28, the Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee convened a conference, combining in-person and online participation, to review the implementation of Resolution No. 57 of the Central Politburo on promoting science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation. This meeting connected 124 communes (xã) and wards (phường) across the province. Key discussions at the conference focused on measures to enhance administrative management efficiency through the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI). This is expected to expedite administrative procedures and improve the quality of resident services. The province also indicated its commitment to resolving challenges within social housing projects. Under Vietnam's one-party system, Vinh Long Province aims to balance economic development with social stability. Investment in science and technology is deemed essential for upgrading the manufacturing sector and boosting productivity in agriculture, thereby enhancing international competitiveness. For Vietnam, which has strong economic ties with China, transforming its industrial structure through technological innovation is a crucial element of its medium to long-term economic growth strategy. This conference serves to promote concrete policy implementation at the local level, and the advancement of digital transformation aligns with Vietnam's broader national strategy. The proactive stance of local governments in adopting science and technology is expected to contribute to the revitalization of the domestic economy.
