Cambodian Youth's Global Cycling Journey Aids Humanitarian Causes

Minister of Health, Professor Chheang Ra, met with Tiv Tararith and his family, commending his humanitarian mission of cycling around the world to raise funds for children's hospitals. Tararith's journey, spanning two years and approximately 60,000 kilometers across 40 countries in Asia, Europe, and Africa, successfully raised over $260,000 for the Kantha Bopha Hospital and Angkor Hospital for Children. Professor Chheang Ra stated that while people typically travel to see the world, Tiv Tararith traveled around the world to allow the world to see the spirit of Cambodian youth. He highlighted that Tararith's cycling mission, driven by love, sacrifice, and humanity, touched the hearts of millions and represented a victory and pride for Cambodia's commitment to saving the lives of its children, the nation's future. During the meeting, the Minister of Health expressed his admiration for Tararith's strong will and desire to bring smiles and hope to infants and children, contributing to Cambodia's national development. He noted that the two years of physical and mental exertion were not just about cycling around the globe but were dedicated to saving Cambodian children's lives. This mission, he added, allowed the world to understand the charitable spirit, traditions, and noble customs of the Cambodian people, while also mobilizing funds for Kantha Bopha Hospital and Angkor Hospital for Children. Professor Chheang Ra emphasized that Tararith is not only a model youth for Cambodia but has become a global role model, potentially serving as an ambassador of goodwill. He encouraged Tararith to continue such activities or other humanitarian endeavors to promote Cambodia's prestige on the international stage. Tiv Tararith shared that his two-year adventure was fraught with difficulties, requiring immense effort and patience. He faced challenges such as extreme weather conditions, ranging from -40 degrees Celsius in some regions to scorching heat in others, as well as geographical and security issues, including traveling through conflict zones, remote areas, and facing traffic accidents. The loneliness and fatigue of cycling alone across countries tested him physically and mentally, but his humanitarian goal propelled him forward. The Minister of Health also provided additional advice on health protection and maintenance for such long-distance cycling expeditions, stressing the importance of health check-ups, vaccinations, understanding local conditions and climate, and preparing necessary survival equipment. Tiv Tararith is a content creator and an avid long-distance adventurer and humanitarian cyclist. His fundraising cycling campaign began on June 9, 2024, from Siem Reap, with the Cambodian flag on his bicycle. He returned to Cambodia on July 3, 2026, having covered a total distance of approximately 60,000 kilometers.
