IKN Authority Spokesperson Troy Pantouw Dies Suddenly, Family Suspects Natural Causes

Troy Pantouw, spokesperson for Indonesia's Nusantara Capital Authority (IKN), passed away on Saturday, July 25. His eldest son, Romeo Matthew Pantouw, revealed that his father had no history of serious illness. The family had even prayed together via conference call the night before his death, during which Romeo stated his father sounded healthy and spoke normally. Romeo mentioned that Troy had recently complained of flu-like symptoms and a general feeling of unwellness, but the family was unaware of any serious underlying conditions. "We received the news when he was sleeping and no longer breathing," Romeo said at the Sentosa Funeral Home and Crematorium at RSPAD Gatot Soebroto in Central Jakarta on Sunday, July 26. Romeo recounted the events leading up to the discovery of his father's death. On Saturday morning, Troy's driver was reportedly waiting to take him to an event in IKN. However, by around 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM WITA, Troy had not emerged from his room, despite his scheduled departure. "So we contacted each other, our driver with my mother, and me too, via video call," Romeo stated. Attempts to reach Troy were unsuccessful. The fire department was called to force open the door after attempts to open it with a passcode failed. He was then rushed to Hermina Hospital in IKN, where doctors pronounced him dead. Romeo admitted that he had not yet received detailed information regarding the cause of his father's death. However, based on the information known to the family, Troy died naturally. There were no bruises or signs of oxygen deprivation. "We are leaving it to the authorities, to the National Police and the TNI. I am confident they are working hard on this case," Romeo said. The body of Troy will be handed over to the family by the Head of the IKN Authority in an official capacity on Monday, July 27. Troy will be buried at TPU Tanah Kusir in South Jakarta.
