Singapore's Universal Success Eyes Data Center, Logistics Investments in PHL
Singapore's Universal Success Enterprises Limited (USEL) is exploring potential investments in data centers and logistics parks in the Philippines. The Department of Trade and Industry is ready to facilitate strategic partnerships with local industry leaders.
Singapore’s Universal Success Enterprises Limited (USEL) is actively exploring potential investments in logistics parks and data centers in the Philippines, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) announced. According to the DTI, USEL is seeking strategic partnerships with local industry leaders, including the PLDT Group, to tap into the country’s expanding data center network and logistics demand. This prospect was discussed during a meeting between Philippine Trade Secretary Maria Cristina A. Roque and USEL Founder and Chairman Prasoon Mukherjee on the sidelines of the ASEAN Conference in Singapore. USEL previously managed the Philippine master franchise for Outback Steakhouse from 2010 to 2022 and is looking to leverage the surging demand for digital and supply chain infrastructure in the Philippines for its expansion. Secretary Roque noted that the company’s move into large-scale infrastructure presents an opportunity for collaboration. The DTI and the Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC-Singapore) are ready to facilitate these connections and ensure a smooth, end-to-end investment journey. Philippine economic zones offer fully serviced land and streamlined regulatory frameworks for operating modern logistics parks. Secretary Roque emphasized that the country is well-equipped to support global developers like USEL, citing the enhanced incentive regimes under the CREATE MORE Act and a rapidly expanding digital economy. The Philippine data center market is projected to reach $2.48 billion by 2031, supported by competitive construction costs and robust digital consumption. "The reforms are in place, the incentives are on the table, and we have diverse ecozones readily available for manufacturers looking to set up or expand their operations," Roque stated, highlighting the readiness of the investment environment.
