P204 Million Worth of Shabu Seized in Las Piñas, High-Value Suspect Arrested

MANILA, Philippines — Thirty kilos of shabu with a street value of P204 million were confiscated by anti-narcotics operatives in Las Piñas on Saturday. Philippine National Police chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the PNP Drug Enforcement Group initiated an operation at a subdivision in Barangay BF International Village, which led to the arrest of a high-value suspect. The suspect, a 40-year-old woman known only as Girlie, allegedly negotiated with police posing as drug buyers for the sale of shabu. After the exchange of marked money, police raided the house and placed Girlie under arrest. "This operation delivers a significant blow to the illegal drug supply by taking a high-value drug suspect and a substantial volume of suspected shabu out of circulation," Nartatez said in a statement. The suspect is being held on drug trafficking cases. An investigation is ongoing to identify her cohorts. "We will sustain decisive law enforcement efforts against those who profit from the illegal drug trade," Nartatez said. Meanwhile, two delivery riders turned over about 828 grams of marijuana and nine milliliters of liquid marijuana worth P149,700 in Marikina City on Friday. The riders said they became suspicious of the parcels they were supposed to deliver in Barangay Parang. Instead of proceeding to the drop-off point, the riders flagged a police officer on patrol operations and brought the parcels to the city police station. "Their decision to alert the police shows how public vigilance can help us disrupt the movement of illegal drugs," Nartatez said.
